Fulbright has announced the 2023 Portuguese and American recipients of the Fulbright Portugal Awards! Diana Gomes is among the Portuguese grantees selected for the Fulbright Program in Portugal, funded by a Fulbright Grant for research with the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia support.
Diana Gomes is a PhD student in Biochemistry at the Bioengineering of Therapeutic Proteins research lab at UCIBIO-NOVA, in collaboration with the Health Sciences Research Centre – University of Beira Interior and will go for four months to the University of Virginia. Her PhD research work focuses on the biosynthesis and purification of HPV E6 and E7 oncoproteins to explore specific drugs against cervical cancer. As a Visiting Student Researcher at the University of Virginia, Diana will integrate Professor Nicholas Vecchiarello’s research team and be engaged in the synthesis and characterization of novel chromatographic resins based on affinity ligands to purify difficult-to-isolate proteins.
