As part of the 46th Annual Meeting of the American College of Toxicology, held from November 16 to 19 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, PhD student Vânia Monteiro received the prestigious Mehendale Award for the best poster presentation.
The poster, titled "Chemical Fingerprinting of Alternative Tobacco Products: Determining the Composition of Electronic Cigarette and Heated Tobacco Aerosols", stood out for its scientific quality and innovation among various international presentations. The award, which includes a $2,000 monetary prize, recognizes the merit of the student’s research in this emerging field. In addition to this recognition, the student was also awarded an International Travel Grant, which supported her participation in the event, enhancing her visibility and contribution to the field of toxicology.
This achievement highlights the excellence and significance of the research carried out at the Toxicology Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), at the Instituto Universitário de Ciências da Saúde of the Cooperativa de Ensino Superior Politécnico e Universitário, CRL (IUCS-CESPU), and at the research unit UCIBIO, which is part of the Associate Laboratory i4HB, showcasing their commitment to cutting-edge research and the advanced training of their PhD students.
