
Ana Luísa Maulvault and Marta Dias, researchers at the BioTox research lab at UCIBIO-NOVA have been awarded the third prize of the 2nd edition of the Expo Fish Portugal 2023 Innovation Award, with the project GreenFeed4Fish “Development of a nutritious, functional and sustainable aquafeed for marine fish using agricultural waste”. The monetary prize of €3,000.00 will allow Ana Luísa Maulvault and Marta Dias to initiate preliminary tests to identify relevant bioactive compounds extracted from wastes.
The 2nd edition of the Expo Fish Portugal Innovation Award aims to identify and support projects characterizing the reinforcement of innovation, in the area of food originating from the sea, changing processes and transferring knowledge in the area of sustainable fishing, the creation of innovative processes and new equipment and the creation of digital processes and solutions.
The Expo Fish Portugal Conference took place at Sesimbra Fishing Port on November 14-15 and featured a diverse panel of speakers and experts who discussed topics relating to the valorization and sustainability of Portuguese fish, financing opportunities, international cooperation and aquaculture, among others. During Expo Fish Portugal, the winners of the 2nd edition of the Expo Fish Portugal 2023 Innovation Award were awarded, under the motto “Innovation and research linked to the sea food sector”.
