The RaBBiT (Radiation Biology and Biophysics Training Doctoral Programme) is organising a meeting that aims to discuss:
-
the value of a PhD and career expectations;
-
cross-disciplinary and complementary training;
-
international collaborations and infrastructure availability;
-
and, obviously, science.
The event, held at FCT NOVA library auditorium (free registration required) will also be available through live streaming (https://videoconf-colibri.zoom.us/j/89029652545).
We'll be discussing how to achieve excellence in doctoral training, the importance of PhD degrees, how they can influence one's career and our society in general. We are fortunate to have the presence of Professor Manuel Heitor (IST, UL), who has been deeply involved in scientific, technological, innovation policies and Higher Education as a political decision-maker (since 2005, and in particular in the last 7 years).
We will also have the presence of Professor Richard Zare (Stanford University), an American Corners Portugal sponsored speaker, who will give two presentations: “The Road to Success” and "A New Way to Stop the Spread of Viral Respiratory Infections”. Professor Zare work is well known in the areas of physical chemistry and analytical chemistry, with broad impact in several areas of biology, biophysics and physics.
Other invited scientific talks will be presented by Professors David Field (Aarhus University), Bruno Guigliarelli (Aix-Marseille Université) and Steve Buckman (Australian National University). Full programme available at https://ucibio.pt/rabbit-international-meeting-2022.
