There are 6 researchers from UCIBIO among the top 2% of the world’s most highly-cited scientists, according to the 2021 data-update for "Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators". The study, developed by the American University of Stanford, coordinated by John P.A.
A farm to the fork study: Banning of colistin in Portuguese poultry farms reduces colistin-resistant bacteria in poultry meat
A new research study developed by researchers from the BacT_Drugs Lab at UCIBIO - FFUP - University of Porto, brings good news for poultry production and food safety related to bacterial resistance to colistin, a last-resort antibiotic reserved to severe/hard-to-treat human infections. Three to eight months after adoption of colistin ban on Portuguese farms, the authors screened marketed chicken meat for colistin resistant bacteria.
Inauguration of NMR infrastructure & i4HB Meeting with Researchers
The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, the president of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), Helena Pereira, the Rector of NOVA University, João Sàágua, and the Dean of NOVA ST, Virgílio Machado, met last Friday, September 24, with the researchers from the recently approved Associate Laboratory (LA) Institute for Health and Bioeconomy i4HB at the FCT NOVA campus.
