UCIBIO integrates the recently approved Associate Laboratory for Health and Bioeconomy UCIBIO integrates the approved Associate Laboratory, Institute for Health and Bioeconomy, i4HB, together with two other research units, Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB) and Institute for System Engineering and Computers-Microsystems and Nanotechnologies (INESC.MN), generating synergies to boost the capacities for success in competitive areas of research and innovation.  
Cristina Almeida awarded “Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro” Grant Cristina Almeida, researcher at Drug Targets and Biomarkers Lab at UCIBIO-Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), led by Natércia Teixeira, was awarded, with a scientific research grant in oncology, by the “Liga Portuguesa contra o Cancro – Núcleo Regional do Norte (LPCC-NRN)”.
UCIBIO Researchers featured in the 2020 list of the most cited scientists worldwide There are 22 researchers from the NOVA School of Science and Technology among the top 2% of the world’s most highly-cited scientists, according to a new study by researchers from Stanford University, which ranks career-long scientific impact of researchers from around the globe.   The list is the result of a study coordinated by John Ioannidis, a professor at Stanford University, and includes 384 Portuguese researchers, of which 30 are from the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa.  
UCIBIO actions and efforts to COVID-19 pandemic The COVID-19 pandemic, due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has been responsible for the disruption of universities and research institutes across the world. However, these institutions were the ones that immediately reorganized their resources and expertise to help.
