On 2013 Evaluation of R&D Units by FCT and ESF, UCIBIO has been classified as Exceptional and considered by the evaluation panel as a top performing research unit (Top 3% of all research Units in Portugal) and ranked as one of the 3 top performers in Biomolecular Sciences.

Eulália Pereira and Ricardo Franco awarded with Gilead GÉNESE Funding
Eulália Pereira, from UCIBIO at UPorto and Ricardo Franco, from UCIBIO at FCT-NOVA, have their project approved from the Gilead GÉNESE program. Olga Matos, from IHMT-NOVA, is the principal investigator of the project “Immuno-nanodiagnostic of Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP): an innovative approach based on the association of serological biosensors and nanoparticles”.

Cecília Roque, head of the Biomolecular Engineering Lab at UCIBIO, has just received a Starting Grant from European Research Council (ERC).
Tiago Carvalho Monteiro distinguished with “Estímulo à Investigação” award 2014
Tiago Monteiro has been distinguished with a young research award 2014, “Estímulo à Investigação”, by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, with the project “Redox chemistry of nitrite in the brain”, under co-supervision of Gabriela Almeida, researcher at UCIBIO (Assistant Professor at Egas Moniz Cooperativa de Ensino Superior), and Rui Barbosa, researcher at Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (Assistant Professor at Faculty of Pharmacy / University of Coimbra).
