UCIBIO awarded “Research 4 COVID-19” research project funding UCIBIO has been awarded another research project in the scope of the “Research 4 COVID-19” funding call launched by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). Gabriela Almeida has been awarded 40 k€ for the research project “Quick COVID-19 Detection (QuiCoviDe)”. In the second edition of “RESEARCH 4 COVID-19”, the special support for rapid implementation projects for innovative response solutions to COVID-19 pandemic, 55 projects were funded.  
PtmBRCN in the Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures The Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education has just updated the Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures (RI), and the Portuguese microBiological Resource Center Network (PtmBRCN), is now included in the National Roadmap of RI.
Development of an easy, fast and cost-effective method for bacterial strain typing The extraordinary increase of Klebsiella pneumoniae resistant to last resource therapeutic options constitutes one of the greatest challenges of the modern Medicine  due to increasing difficulties to treat and control infections. The lack of reliable tools compatible to routine microbiology practices to assess relatedness between infectious strains impairs timely and precise treatment and infection control decisions.  
UCIBIO researchers are performing SARS-CoV-2 tests UCIBIO researchers implemented CoVID-19 diagnostic tests at the UCIBIO research labs in FCT NOVA, being currently involved in the National roadmap. A team of 26 UCIBIO researchers start today performing diagnostic tests for the molecular detection of SARS-CoV-2 in samples from care homes in southern Portugal.
